Characteristics evaluation for wound-field AC synchronous machines and externally excited synchronous machines

Salient- pole rotor geometry and with and without a damper can be specified using templates.
For synchronous motors, torque, efficiency, iron loss, copper loss, inductance, and torque constant can be evaluated. For wound-field AC synchronous machines, Phasor diagrams and circuit properties (No-load saturation curve (OCC), three-phase short circuit curve (SCC), gap line (AGL), and zero power factor full-load saturation curve (ZPF) can be evaluated.

Account for Induction Motor End Ring Cross-Section Geometry

July 29, 2015: JMAG-Express Public 201507 has been released

Analyses accounting for rectangular geometry / trapezoidal geometry / cross-section area (arbitrary geometry for a specified area) are now possible.

Inherit Number of Slots / Poles

Geometry templates can be updated while inheriting the number of slots, number of poles, and outer diameter.

The number of decimal place digits can be specified for the following items. The number of digits depending on the dimensional tolerance can be specified.

Displaying dimension values on the model allows for the geometry size to be more easily understood in an objective manner.

Improved DXF file loading function


  • Partial modeling is no longer necessary.
  • Can be created in JMAG-Express when coil regions are missing.

* JMAG-Express Public can directly evaluate characteristics by loading the DXF file at hand.

Enabled display of a target line on output or N-T graphs

We have added a target value display to graph properties.
Entering [Desired Output (kW)], [Desired Maximum Torque (Nm)] or [Desired Maximum Revolution Speed (rpm)] in the [Overview] tab displays the target line in the graph properties, allowing all of the differences between results and to be viewed.

Boosted the error correction function

We have enabled correction of the physical quantity.
Enabling use of interim parameters like Ld, Lq and flux linkage changes results based on voltage equation.
This enables direct correction of results such as torque or loss.
Choosing the [Correction Coefficient] button adds the [Correction] tab. Inputting the correction coefficient here and selecting [Evaluate] displays corrected results.
Choose [Record Design Proposal] and you can compare graph properties before and after corrections have been made.

In response to user requests, connection types and connection methods for the coil can now be selected.

Improved the operability of changing geometry

  • Dimensions are automatically adjusted to appropriate values when changing the number of poles, number of slots.
  • Appropriate dimensions are automatically set so that overlapping does not occur, in case two or more parts overlap with the specified dimensions when changing the rotor's outer diameter and stator's inner diameter
  • Dimensions are adjusted so that the rotor and stator fit when the part is replaced.

Ten types of magnetic steel sheets have been added for a total of 13 options

RT models for SRM can now be created, in addition to PMSM and IM.
This updating will contributes to efficiency in your system and control design works.

Support for SRM

In addition to permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) and induction motor(IM), switched reluctance motor(SRM) have been newly supported. Geometry templates and sizing functions are also available. We hope JMAG-Express will streamline your SRM designs.

Optimization

Optimum solutions for variables that are obtained from the sensitivity analysis are being acquired. Apply the gained optimum solution to the template, and check the characteristics using the JMAG-Express' Simplified Basic Characteristics function.

Improved Accuracy for Induction Motors and Enhanced Geometry Template Functions

Improved analysis accuracy for induction motors

Improved calculation methods lead to better analysis accuracy for induction motors like deep-slot squirrel cage motors, which have strong secondary resistance slip dependence. The analysis accuracy improves without any changes to the user's setting items or calculation time.

Combining different stators and rotors

It is now possible to combine the stator and rotor geometry templates that you want. You can save the combined geometry as a template, so the level of freedom in geometry creation that uses templates has increased dramatically. The operations are intuitive , as you just have to select the stator and rotor on the screen. You can use the geometry sizing function, as well.

Enhancing the coil settings

In response to everyone's requests, it is now possible to automatically calculate a coil's phase resistance from the wire type, slot surface area, and number of turns. The slot geometry and coil design can be carried out in parallel.

More geometry templates

Geometry templates such as V-shaped magnets and half cylindrical geometries have been included in the installer.

Saving setting files

It is now possible to save the setting parameters separately and load them. Use this function when automating the system.

Changing the license configuration

We have integrated the JMAG-Express Public license key. Until now PMSMs, induction motors, and RTs needed their own applications, but starting with Ver. 3.00.1609 they can be used with one key. We will separately deliver a new license to those who, as of 5/1/2012, have been issued a license until 5/31/2012. Those who have licenses that are expired as of 5/1/2012 can respond to the questionnaire again and apply for an extended license via email.

Other

JMAG-Express Public supports the improvements in the constraint functions that were released with JMAG-Designer Ver. 11.0. This will make it easier to link with JMAG-Designer, which uses FEA.

Sizing Feature for JMAG-Express Geometry

July 12, 2011: JMAG-Express Ver.1.00.3012 has been released

The popular motor design tool JMAG-Express now has a geometrical sizingfeature. Conventionally users needed to specify settings such as the dimensions and drive conditions when using the basic templates, but now the sizing feature recommends geometry and drive conditions by simply specifying the minimum desired output of the motor. Of course more specific geometry and drive conditions can be obtained by increasing the amount of information that is specified.

JMAG-Express can now be used as a building block to examine the geometry and drive conditions even for users that are not versed in motor design.

JMAG-Express will continue to evolve based on the rich feedback we receivefrom our users.

July 21, 2010: JMAG-Express Ver.1.00.2002 has been released

Ver.1.00.2002 offers users the ability to specify correction coefficients for magnets and loss based on the feedback we received. In addition, motor geometry created in JMAG-Express can now be sent to JMAG-Designer (FEA: Finite Element Analysis). Motor geometry can now be hashed out in JMAG-Express Public, and then comprehensively analyzed in JMAG-Designer using FEA.

A JMAG-RT model accounting for the characteristics of brushless motors can now be generate by applying for a JMAG-Express license key that supports JMAG-RT models.

The JMAG-RT models that are generated can be used with MATLAB(R)/Simulink(R) and PSIM offering more solutions, especially for system design engineers.
