Q2 Can JMAG-Express Public be used by individuals?
Yes, JMAG-Express Public can be used by individuals and students that do not belong to a company.

Q4 Will additional templates be added to JMAG-Express Public?
If there is a specific type of geometry that you would like to see added as a template to JMAG-Express Public, please contact us using our contact form.

Q5 Can I specify materials other than those that are provided?
Presently, only the materials that are provided can be specified. We are considering adding more versatile material settings.

Q6 Can I use the JMAG material database?
Not presently. We are considering adding the ability to use the JMAG material database.

Q7 What does [Drive Voltage] stand for in the [Circuit] settings?
[Drive Voltage] in the [Circuit] settings menu stands for different things depending on the type of motor being calculated.
Refer to the definitions depending on the type of motor that you are using.

For a brushless motor:

[Drive Voltage(V)] in the [Drive Circuit] treeview under the [Drive] tab stands for the maximum voltage between the wires.
This corresponds to a power supply voltage for a 120-degree circuit.

For an induction motor:

[Amplitude (V)] in the [Three-Phase Voltage Source] treeview under the [Drive] tab stands for the amplitude of the phase voltage.

Q8 What is the resistance specified for in [Coil Resistance] in the [Circuit] settings.
The resistance is set for the phase resistance. For more information, see the Help that is included with JMAG-Express Public for Rotating Machines.

Q10 How do I specify the license key information?
You will be sent a three line registration key by email to the email address you provide when you register. Specify the three line registration key when installing JMAG-Express Public.

License

1.Confirming your login user name Authentication does not go well if the letters of your login user name for Windows are in double bytes. If you are using a language like Japanese that has double byte letters, try logging in again on the same PC after changing your user name to single byte letters in the English alphabet.
2.Confirming entry of license key Have you entered all 3 lines of the issued license key? All information from "Email" to the end of "LicenseKey" needs to be entered.
OK
Key_ok

NG
Key_ng

The license key differs according to the type of motor to evaluate.
You need to apply for separate licenses to use induction motors, brushless motors, and generate JMAG-RT models.

Furthermore, the screen indicated above is displayed if JMAG-Express Public for Rotating Machines is started when the license key you are using has expired.
If you would like to update your license key, please fill out and return the questionnaire sent by the JSOL Corporation.

Q11 Linking JMAG-Express Public and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
JMAG-Express Public Ver. 1.00.2002 now comes with a built-in feature to link to JMAG-Designer (FEA:Finite Element Analysis). Don't hesitate to try and refine motor designs in JMAG-Express Public, and then run comprehensive analysis using JMAG-Designer.

Q13 I want to change the geometry of a JMAG-Express Public template.
JMAG-Express Public templates can be changed in JMAG-Designer. Try modifying the geometry if you have JMAG-Designer.
If you do not have JMAG-Designer, you can use JMAG for free with a 30 day trial we are currently offering. Give JMAG a try, and test out creating templates and performing simulations.
